Iván Estrada

Iván Estrada is a visual artist and sculptor based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. His practice focuses on sculpture and material research, addressing concepts such as balance, tension and support through the intersection of traditional crafts and industrial processes. His work draws influence from blacksmithing, mechanics and jewelry-making—skills present in his family environment that have shaped his technical and formal approach to materials.

He studied at the School of Arts of the Jalisco Ministry of Culture (2010–2014) and further complemented his artistic development through workshops led by Paulo César Bermúdez, José Luis Sánchez Rull and poet Efraín Bartolomé. Since 2013, he has maintained an active exhibition career, with solo exhibitions at venues such as Galería Tiro al Blanco, Fundación CALOSA, ARTERE-A Proyecto and Arsenal, as well as participation in group exhibitions at institutions and spaces including MUSA Museo de las Artes, MURA Museo Raúl Anguiano, the Alliance Française, Casa Torre, Galería Demetria and GUADALAJARA 90210.

His work has been exhibited in both institutional and independent contexts and forms part of public and private collections, including the Jalisco Graphic Collection, the Zacatecas Graphic Collection, the Fundación CALOSA Collection, the Zarur Collection and Art Collectors. His practice is situated within contemporary sculpture, privileging craftsmanship, process and the physical relationship between body, material and space.
