Gathering is pleased to announce our participation in the third edition of Esther in Estonian House, New York from 12–16 May. The presentation will feature works by three of Gathering’s represented artists: Stefan Brüggemann, Wynnie Mynerva and Christelle Oyiri.

The booth will highlight three Stefan Brüggemann paintings that explore the possibility of language through the inclusion of text, particularly laconic phrasing. Made of silver leaf, spray paint and vinyl lettering on canvas, ISLAND PAINTING (LOUD SPEECH) is part of the artist’s ongoing Island Painting series, in which concise and austere language activates greater meaning, generating a stark visual and social impact with Brüggemann’s minimalist aesthetic.

Situated alongside Brüggemann’s works are three 2025 works by Wynnie Mynerva, including two aquarell works on paper from her Flamas series. Flamas III and Flamas IV contain intimate yet ambiguous outlines of the body that read at once beautiful and strange. As is often the case with Mynerva’s work, hints of violence bubble at the surface of her pictorial resestablishments of traditional conceptions of gender.

The final work in the booth is Christelle Oyiri’s print, TOURISTA SERIES: I CAME, I SAW, I POSED. Part of her TOURISTA series, in which Oyiri overlays family photos with marketing slogans centred around travel, I CAME, I SAW, I POSED reflects upon the political, colonial and ecological layers beneath the postcard image.
