Gathering is pleased to participate in the 2026 edition of Dallas Invitational for the first time, bringing together a booth of six artists that represent the gallery’s wide-ranging and dynamic roster. The presentation will showcase works by Jamie Bragg, Stefan Brüggemann, Wynnie Mynerva, Christelle Oyiri and Tai Shani. Gathering’s presentation will be showcased in room 119 at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.

Central to the booth are three Stefan Brüggemann works, including Island Painting (Speed), created this year. Made of silver leaf, spray paint and vinyl lettering on canvas, Island Painting (Speed) is part of the artist’s ongoing Island Painting series in which Brüggemann explores the possibility of language through the inclusion of text, particularly laconic phrasing. With concise and austere language, the artist activates greater meaning, generating a stark visual and social impact with his minimalist aesthetic.

Tai Shani’s painting, Our Astrolatrous Communes II, will accompany Brüggemann works. Shani’s Our Astrolatrous Communes series contains portals into the artist’s associative and surreptitious world, equipped with a three dimensional frame that functions as a doorway, both welcoming the viewer in and also closing off its secretive universe. Painted red spheres might mimic the sleight of hand movements of the street magicians Shani encountered growing up in India, intertwining spiritual elements and symbolism with daily ritual and popular entertainment.

Finally, the booth will highlight three 2025 works by Wynnie Mynerva. Made with aquarell on paper, Mynerva’s works Flamas III and Flamas IV contain intimate yet ambiguous outlines of the body that read at once beautiful and strange. As is often the case with Mynerva’s work, hints of violence bubble at the surface of her pictorial resestablishments of traditional conceptions of gender. Mynerva’s oil painting, Cuando cae el amor, Crepúsculo, is an extraordinary example of the artist’s ability to cultivate a mystical status; she depicts a haunting and evocative atmosphere in earthy ochre, purple and brown tones. Cuando cae el amor, Crepúsculo embraces the body as a site of vulnerability and a vehicle for transformation: unruly, intimate and self-defined.
